Export to Word, PDF and OpenDocument

Write in plain text, then export the Word file or PDF people expect, with real footnotes. Every format is free.

The Export box in Retroprose, with a list of formats and templates, each with its own key.
Ctrl+E opens Export. Choose a format and a template, then press Enter.

Six formats

Word (.docx), PDF, OpenDocument (.odt), HTML, plain text or Markdown. Print preview, on Shift+F7, shows the pages before you export.

Templates

Pick a template as you export. Your name, address and sign-off come from your account page. There are no fonts or colours to choose.

  • Plain: headings, lists and tables, with no extra layout.
  • Letter: room for your address and theirs, the date and a sign-off.
  • Report: a title page, a contents list and numbered pages.
  • Article: a title, a standfirst, the author and the date.

Footnotes

Word and OpenDocument files get real footnotes at the foot of the page. PDF and HTML put them as notes at the end. Ctrl+Enter starts a new page in Word, OpenDocument and PDF.
