Word goals, daily goals and writing streaks
Give a document a word goal, set a daily goal, and keep a streak going. Only the words you type count. Goals and streaks are free.
Word goals
Set 80,000 words for a novel, 1,500 for an essay, or anything up to a million, with Ctrl+F8. A bar at the top of the screen fills as you write, and turns solid at the goal. Cut a scene and the count drops.
Daily goals and streaks
Set a number of words a day on your account page. A day counts towards your streak when you reach it. A chart on the dashboard shows the last 14 days.
Only typed words count
Pasted text, uploads, spelling fixes and undo never add a word. Deleted words come off. The server keeps the numbers only, never your text. There are no leaderboards and no notifications.
Questions
Is the word count tracker free?
Yes. Word goals, the daily goal, streaks and the 14-day chart are in the free floppy disk edition. The full Writing stats screen comes with the Zip disk and hard disk editions, from £39 a year or £5 a month.
Does pasted text count towards my daily goal?
No. Only the words you type count.
What happens to my streak if I miss a day?
Until today counts, your streak still runs to yesterday, so there is time to catch up. Miss a whole day and the current streak starts again, but your longest streak is kept.
